born 1967, Italian
Aleandro Roncarà is a contemporary Pop-Art painter who has traveled a circuitous path to art-making. He has drawn cartoons ever since he was a child, but has worked as a caterer, pastry chef, and played basketball professionally in the Premier League in Italy, Series A, for several years. Eclectic and imaginative by nature, he opened his graphic design studio in 1992. It was in 2005, however, that his passion for drawing (and with an extra push of encouragement from his three children) that he was inspired to pick up a paintbrush. Wall Street International Magazine (2013) has described his painting style as inheritor of the late Keith Haring. Colorful, graphic, robust, and energetic, Aleandro’s iconic canvases inhabit a fantasy world where a coterie of comic characters take center stage in a visual feast for the eye. He has managed to open up a bright reality in Pop-Art in an explosion of color, soft shapes, and hypnotic characters. Aleandro was born in the Tuscan region in Orbetello, Italy.
