BIOGRAPHY
Yang Yang is a painter and sculptor unparalleled in his artistic vision and re-contextualization of Oriental compositional strategies and Western color harmony. Combining both Eastern and Western culture, Yang Yang invites viewers into complex spatial and emotional interactions with his canvases that symbolize sublime, vague, and mystical impressions. He creates figurative paintings and sculptures of unconventional forms with an expressive style. Well equipped with knowledge of Chinese tradition and Western philosophy, most of his inspiration is derived from Chinese mythology, along with influences from Nanchang, China where he grew up. In 1984, he came to the United States and earned his Masters Degree in Art at Augustana College (Sioux Falls, SD). His works are widely collected by public and private collectors and he has exhibited at museums including the Museum of Fine Art in Shaanxi, China, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and the Shandong Art Museum in Jinan, China. His work has also been published in Interview Magazine, ART News Magazine, Art & Antiques Magazine and International Daily News.
